Contrary to what many people think, being a stay-at home mom is not the perfect smiley, all made-up, and perfectly dressed girl portrayed in pictures and commercials. Far from it! Being a stay-at-home mom is one of the busiest and hectic jobs in the world, especially when you have more than one child.
Between taking care of the kids, taking care of the house (trust me, that is already two jobs!), and if like me, you are a Blogger, there is barely time to get out of our pajamas (lol), relax, take a breath, and be able to take care of our own needs!
So to make my days a little less insane, there are the things that absolute get me going and help me stay focused throughout the day!
1. I Start My Day With A Cup Of Coffee
I know this might sound a little bit silly thing to mention as a routine, but for me it's not only the caffeine boost I need to start my morning, but also the sign that says "Your Work Day Begins Now". It does not matter if it is a cup of coffee, a cup of tea, or a morning run, find that little first morning routine that helps you get started for the day!
2. I am Realistic When It Comes To Tasks And Chores
I am an accountant, and I worked outside the house for many years, so I know that organization is a vital key to successfully accomplish any work day at the office. The same thing applies to my work day at home.
When it comes to chores, tasks around the house, and errands, be realistic, you don't have to be a super hero and accommodate everything in one day. Write them down! It doesn't have to be a fancy agenda, or an expensive software. A simple piece of paper can do!. Once you see it in writing, it is easier to prioritize and decide what needs to be done today, and what can wait for the next day . . . or the next . . .
3. I DO NOT Skip Lunch Anymore
Taking care of ourselves is one of the most important things! Only when we take care of ourselves first, we can take good care of our kids and family. However with the busyness of each day, it is very often that we find ourselves realizing that it is already 1 pm, we are hangry, unfocused, our stomach is hurting, and that yet again, we are skipping lunch! This is something almost everyone is guilty of eight at home or the office.
I have to admit that I used to do it all the time until I discovered the amazing and delicious Lean Pockets! I was completely blown away to find out that they are 100% all real meat and cheese, with no artificial flavors, and an amazing source of protein to get you going for the day. In just about 2 minutes, you can grab a nutritious snack to get your day going, and with 16 delicious options, you will never get bored!
Two of my favorite Lean Pockets flavors are ♦Chicken Broccoli and Cheese with a Whole Grain Crust, with only 250 calories per sandwich, and ♦Roasted Turkey Bacon & Cheese with a Pretzel Bread Crust with only 270 calories per sandwich! What can be better?
I now you'll have a hard time deciding which flavor to buy, (sorry, I can't help you there ☺), but I can help you save with this awesome $1 Coupon, when you buy 3 Lean Pockets products!
4. I REMIND Myself The Reason Of My Decision To Stay At Home
I don't have little kids anymore, however, when they were tiny, many times I caught myself stressing over things like laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc., and when I realized that, I had to put a stop to it, and remind myself that my real priority is my children. Sure things need to be done around the house, but whenever I needed to choose between doing the laundry, and spending time with my children, laundry always lost!
5. I Put An End To My Day
Every working day outside the house has a start and end time...usually 8 hours. Unfortunately it is not as easily to completely draw that line at home, however, it is important for me to feel that I am done for the day. It helps me get a sense of completion, and to recharge and get ready for the next one.
For me, it is after dinner, when my kitchen is completely clean, and I actually announce aloud: "Ok, I'm done for the day, kitchen is closed"! It works . . . it really does. So find your 'end-of-the-day moment, and really put an end to your work day!
